On first glance, it looks like a typical spy thriller. The two rival countries, Westalis and Ostania, wage a cold war. Here, the battles take place in the shadows through espionage, sabotage, and assassination by the enemy. But the uneasy peace between the two countries is on the verge of coming apart, so Westalis sends its best spy to infiltrate an Ostanian government official. To accomplish this mission Twilight (the spy in question) must acquire a fake family.
What we love about the Spy X Family setting
Given the nature of the mission, it’ll be important for Twilight to keep his true identity a mystery. He’s pretending not to be a master of disguise, but rather a psychiatrist who has a wife and a young child from a previous marriage. He has to keep up this lie with everyone — even the other two members of the fake family he created. But he isn’t the only one with a hidden agenda. His new “wife” and his newly adopted daughter Anya have their own secrets, and they’re just as mysterious as Loid’s. In fact they’re even bigger than Loid could’ve imagined.
While Twilight has a lot going for him, he isn’t without flaws. He’s a bit clumsy, doesn’t know how to cook, and can be a little too trusting at times. That said, he’s also incredibly likable, which helps make up for some of his shortcomings. It’s hard not to root for Twilight when he’s trying to save the world, especially since his heartwarming character arc unfolds over the course of the entire series.
The same goes for his fake family. They may be a bunch of wacky stereotypes, but we still find ourselves rooting for them because of their endearing personalities. As a result, we enjoy watching them interact with each other throughout the series.
Our reason to watch and read Spy X Family
One of the reasons why we enjoy watching and reading Spy X Family is because we want to see how long the characters can keep up their fake lives. They’re all lying to each other, but they don’t know it. When will the truth be revealed? What will their reactions be? And why haven’t Loid, Anya and Yor noticed that the people they live with are just totally weird? It’s such a cute story with so many pop culture elements that made us laugh a lot. We hope you’ll love Spy X Family too!
